Science without Fiction
Design reviews of CAD data in augmented reality have recently become more and more established, and the same applies to the use of these systems in the areas of production and quality assurance. The field of simulation as an integral part of engineering has not been taken into account so far. One possible reason for this is the enormous amounts of data that are usually produced by the software tools used for the analyses.
Together with our partner Holo-Light Industrial Solutions GmbH, Numerica is currently working on the development of such a module. The primary goal is the visualisation of existing analyses in augmented reality as an integral part of ARES (Augmented Reality Engineering Space). In the process, existing analysis results are loaded directly into AR glasses such as the Microsoft HoloLens 2 via ISAR (Interactive Streaming for Augmented Reality). Up to 100 million polygons can be transferred without any problems. The topic of "Big Data" is thus settled. The Stylus XR (Interactive Pen) input device is available to the user for annotations, sketches and also measurements in the AR environment. The long-term goal is to carry out analyses live and in real time, including post-processing.
Our core tasks on this project lie in the expertise for the implementation of all relevant calculation results, independent of the calculation software used and the physics considered.
